Minenkhulu Ngoyi

Multidisciplinary Artist & Printmaker

Johannesburg

Bio

Minenkhulu Ngoyi (b. 1987) is a Johannesburg-based multidisciplinary artist and printmaker whose work explores identity, spirituality, resistance, and collective memory. Working across traditional and experimental printmaking processes, his practice is rooted in lived experience, indigenous belief systems, and postcolonial critique.

Artist Statement

Ngoyi is a co-founder of Alphabet Zoo, a self-publishing zine collective focused on collaboration, visual activism, and accessible forms of storytelling. His zine-making practice engages public space and challenges dominant hierarchies of authorship and distribution.

Influenced by the Shembe Church, Ngoyi interrogates the tensions between African cosmologies and colonial religious frameworks through print, collage, and book arts. By blending archival research with contemporary narratives, he uncovers overlooked histories and reimagines African futures through printmaking as a site of resistance and spiritual reclamation.
